Overview of Ozeki SMS Gateway
Modern enterprise communications demand high throughput, high availability, bulletproof security compliance, and effortless administrative management. Ozeki SMS Gateway is a state-of-the-art, high-performance messaging platform engineered specifically for demanding mission-critical applications, automated 2-Factor Authentication (2FA), transactional notifications, SCADA alerts, and enterprise CRM/ERP integrations.
By leveraging a high-speed 64-bit multi-threaded asynchronous engine capable of processing over 1,000 SMS per second per node, Ozeki SMS Gateway eliminates system bottlenecks, radically reduces implementation timelines, and delivers superior total cost of ownership (TCO).
Architectural Overview & Platform Capabilities
SMS Gateways form the backbone of modern business messaging, connecting corporate applications with telecommunication networks. Ozeki SMS Gateway serves as a unified routing hub between internal business software (SQL databases, REST clients, Mail servers, Webhooks) and exterior messaging channels (SMPP, GSM/4G/5G modems, Android SIM banks, SIP/VoIP, WhatsApp Business API, and RCS).
As illustrated in Figure 1, Ozeki SMS Gateway sits directly between enterprise applications and mobile network operators (MNOs). It abstracts the underlying carrier protocol complexity, handles instant protocol translation, manages queue optimization, and enforces automatic retry mechanisms to ensure perfect deliverability.
Key Architectural Strengths
- Asynchronous 64-Bit Core Engine: Built on modern .NET Core architecture, optimizing CPU multi-threading across all available processor cores for sub-millisecond routing latencies.
- Parallel Engineering: Distinct structural interfaces enable efficient multi-threading to utilize multi-core and multi-cpu cpu system for efficiency.
- Separation of Concerns: Clear boundaries between system components (like UI, mobile network connections, user interfaces, APIs and data storage) allow users and applications to operate without effecting each other and other unrelated parts of the system.
- Fault Isolation: High structural decoupling ensures that a failure in one isolated component or service does not trigger a catastrophic cascade, keeping the rest of the application running smoothly.
- Auditability & Traceability: Well-structured designs provide clear data flow pathways and distinct component boundaries, making it significantly easier to trace execution paths, debug issues, and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
- Visual Desktop-Class Web UI: Live graphical trace windows, graphical routing builders, real-time message queue monitors, and diagnostic tools provide easy overview and administration.
- Omnichannel Unified Messaging: Single control panel managing SMS, MMS, WhatsApp Business API, RCS, E-mail to SMS, and SIP/SMS over IP.
High Availability, Clustering & Reliability
For mission-critical deployments, such as hospital emergency notifications, banking OTP codes, and industrial automation alarms, downtime is unacceptable. Ozeki SMS Gateway offers High Availability (HA) active-passive and active-active clustering capabilities. If installed on two (or more) nodes coupled with the Ozeki Cluster managment software fault tolerance and high availability can be achieved
For High Availability (HA) systems the Ozeki Cluster Manager software component continuously monitors active node health through heartbeat mechanisms (Figure 2). If a primary Master Node experiences hardware failure or network loss, the Slave Node immediately assumes active status. System administrators receive instant notifications via Email, SMS, Phone calls or Syslog, ensuring zero message loss and seamless carrier session failover.

Enterprise Integration Patterns
Ozeki SMS Gateway integrates into corporate IT environments using several key communication blueprints:
SQL Database Integration (Database Polling)The simplest and most reliable integration method for ERP, CRM, and billing systems. Software applications insert message records into a database table, and Ozeki processes them automatically. Ozeki uses an Outbound Queue. Application executes INSERT INTO ozekimessageout (receiver, msg) VALUES ('+1234567890', 'Your OTP code is 9876');. Ozeki picks up the row, transmits the message via the optimal SMPP route, and updates the status to 'SENT' or 'DELIVERED' along with exact timestamps. Incoming messages received from carriers are instantly inserted into ozekimessagein for application consumption.
REST API & WebhooksModern microservices and cloud applications utilize Ozeki's REST API for instant asynchronous messaging. Developers can send SMS via HTTP POST with JSON payloads and configure Webhooks to receive real-time delivery status notifications or incoming SMS pushes.
Email-to-SMS GatewayOzeki acts as an internal mail server (SMTP). Office staff or automated monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) can send an email to +1234567890@sms-gateway.company.local. Ozeki automatically extracts the subject/body and sends it as a text message to the recipient's phone.
