How to dictate in Ozeki SMS Gateway

This guide demonstrates how to use Ozeki Voice Keyboard to dictate SMS messages in the Ozeki SMS Gateway message composer. Instead of typing your message manually, you can hold the hotkeys, speak into your microphone, and have the transcribed text pasted automatically into the active input field.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, make sure both applications are installed and configured on your system. You will need Ozeki SMS Gateway: you can download it from the Download SMS Gateway page and follow the Android SMS QR quick start guide to get it up and running. You will also need Ozeki Voice Keyboard installed and configured: follow the Ozeki Voice Keyboard Quick Start Quide to complete the initial setup.

Steps to follow

  1. Open the message composer
  2. Enter the recipient phone number
  3. Dictate the message using Ozeki Voice Keyboard

Step 1 - Open the message composer

Open the Ozeki SMS Gateway web interface and navigate to the message composer by clicking the New button in the toolbar. This is where you can compose and send SMS messages to any phone number connected through your configured SMS connections (Figure 1).

Step 2 - Enter the recipient phone number

Enter the recipient's phone number in the address field (Figure 2).

Step 3 - Dictate the message using Ozeki Voice Keyboard

Click into the message text input field to make it active, then press and hold Ctrl + Alt (or your configured hotkeys) and speak your message into the microphone. Ozeki Voice Keyboard will record your voice for as long as the keys are held down. Once you have finished speaking, release the keys to send the recording for transcription (Figure 3).

After the transcription completes, the converted text is automatically pasted into the message body field. If needed, you can edit the text manually or repeat the dictation to replace it (Figure 4).

This approach lets you compose messages hands-free, which is especially useful when working quickly or when typing is not convenient.
