Compare Standard licenses to Enterprise licenses
This page gives provides information that helps you compare Ozeki SMS Gateway Standard licenses to Ozeki SMS Gateway enterprise licenses. The differences between the two license families are reflected in the message throughput, the price and the feature set.
Ozeki SMS Gateway Standard licenses
Ideal for small operations: Our standard SMS licenses are perfectly suited for small organizations or scenarios where SMS messaging isn't the backbone of your operations. Offering a cost-effective approach, this license type is characterized by lower message throughput rates, catering to a limited user base and designed specifically for single computer setups, ensuring a streamlined and controlled SMS environment.

Standard features:
- Message queues: Messages are stored in a queue and they are delivered as capacity becomes available. The priorities are assigned as a round robing algorithm between users (one SMS per user in each round) and on a first come first serviced (FCFS) basis for user queues. This means that two users can access the sending devices simultaneously and user B does not have to wait for user A to finish all his messages.
- Multiple SMS formats: All character encodings and all SMS messages types are supported. (GSM 7-bit, Binary, Unicode, Multipart SMS, special messages types)
- Multi user access: Multiple users can access the system using a webbrowser in a LAN
- Message routing: An unlimited number of inbound and outbound routes can be defined to adjust delivery requirements
- Address books: Phone number lists can be stored in address books
- Message templates: Pre written message templates can be used with special user specific keywords. Keywords are replaced to user specific content. For example if SMS messages are sent from excel, special excel columns can be used in the SMS text
- Custom Sender ID: The sender ID can be configured on IP SMS connections
- Secure connections: A TLS/SSL protocol layer can be enabled for all connections. This means that HTTPS, Secure SMPP (SMPP over TLS), Secure UCP, Secure CIMD2 and secure TCP/IP links can be configured with server and client X509 certificates.
Ozeki SMS Gateway Enterprise licenses
Our enterprise licenses are recommended for medium size and large organizations where operational security is key and where it is crucial to deliver messages even in situations when possible errors occur. These license are for multi-user setups. Multiple admin accounts can be created, user roles can be assigned to suit the desired user access levels. These licenses also offer better logging and traceability to be able to track the activity of each user. where many users and applications use the system simultaneously. These licenses offer higher speeds, they provide automated error recovery mechanisms, and are designed for multi computer setups.

Enterprise features:
- All standard features are included
Higher performance
- No speed regulation for inbound traffic: For enterprise licenses, there is no speed limitation is in place for incoming SMS and incoming delivery reports. The capacity limits are only applied to outgoing SMS messages.
- Large message queues: Message queues over 10 000 SMS are allowed. Queue overflow is cached to the disk to save memory and loaded back as it becomes appropriate.
Batch administration
- Automated user authentication: No manual user creation is necessary. Users can be authenticated using enterprise authentication schemes. Supported authentication methods: SQL server, LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, Radius, HTTPS requests.
- Automated account creation/suspension: Combined with the automated user authentication, new user accounts are automatically created (and suspended) depending on the login result from the automated authentication service.
- Batch phone number assignment: Sender ID pools can be assigned to user groups.
Improved operational reliability
- Automated resubmissions: The system will retry SMS submission on unreliable connections multiple times before giving up. (For standard licenses, the submit failed error is simply reported, for enterprise licenses 6 retries take place before unsuccessful delivery is reported.)
- Backup routing: This feature allows backup routes that take over in case the primary SMS mobile network connections fail. For example, a wireless Android mobile phone connection can be configured as backup for a primary IP SMS link. During normal operation, the Android link is not used, but if the internet connection is broken, it takes over.
- Load balancing: This feature allows the grouping of mobile network connections. Such groups are handled as a single connection in routing. If all connections in the group are on-line, their capacity is added together, if one or more fail, the remaining connections handle the load.
- Clustering: You can setup two or more computers as a failover cluster. In this setup, the backup node constantly monitors the primary node and synchronizes configurations and data. If the primary hardware fails, the backup node automatically takes over the primary service IP address and all the operations. Every 30 seconds, the backup node checks the primary node. In case any node in the cluster fails, SMS and e-mail notifications are sent to the administrators. Note: This feature requires the purchase of the 'Ozeki Cluster' addon.
Better system monitoring / administration
- Multiple admin accounts: The admin role can be assigned to multiple users who can login to configure the system.
- SQL logging: SQL logging means that all SMS traffic passing through the system can be logged into a database. This log includes all delivery related timestamps, the delivery success state, and the number of SMS parts for each sms to support billing.
- User traceback logs: User traceback means, that user logins, and user GUI activity are logged for each user and for each administrator. Each user has a set of logfiles that records their activities. A combined system log records all login attempts and all GUI activities on the system in a central logfile.
- Message traceback logs: Message traceback means that a detailed event log is attached to each message. This makes it possible to see what happened to the message in the system and in the mobile network. This log contains a timestamped list of events starting from the time when the SMS was created until it is deleted from the system. This log also includes mobile network submit, delivery and error reports.
- Automated alerts: E-mail and/or sms alerts can be configured to be sent to a list of administrators about mobile network connection failures.
SMS service provider features
- Least cost routing: The system can be configured to route SMS messages based message delivery costs
- SMPP server: The built in SMPP server allows you to offer SMS service to your customers over the SMPP protocol SMPP v3.3, v3.4 and v5.0 are supported including custom TLVs. SMPP over TLS is supported. X509 server and client certificate management is supported.
- UCP/Emi2 server: The built in UCP/Emi2 server allows you to offer SMS service to your customers over the UCP protocol. UCP over TLS is supported. X509 server and client certificate management is supported.
- CIMD2 server: The built in CIMD2 server allows you to offer SMS service to your customers over the CIMD/CIMD2 protocol. CIMD/CIMD2 over TLS is supported. X509 server and client certificate management is supported.
- HTTP API server: The built in HTTP API server can provide SMS REST/API over HTTP and HTTPS to your customers. Multiple HTTP/HTTPS protocols and custom JSON and XML encodings are supported.
- SMS aggregator compatibility mode: The software accepts HTTPS, REST API requests in the format of more than 20 large SMS aggregators and service providers. You can provide the same service as the largest SMS aggregators, and customers can switch over to your service without any implementation need. All they have to do is simply change the service URL in their system.
- Billing and accounting SMS billing and account can be enabled for user accounts. Prepaid topup limits, periodic credit limits on a daily, weekly, monthly basis can be set on a per user basis.
Special features
- HLR lookups: The system can query the Home Location Register (HLR) of phone numbers prior to delivery. The HLR information can be used for least cost routing, or for other purposes.
- Silent SMS support: You can send SMS messages that are not noticeable by the recipient. This can be used to ping mobile phones silently. A delivery report is received after such a ping. This can be used to gain information about the online status of the phone and (combined with HLR lookups) the location of the mobile device.
